Electrical Engineer Lead

The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for electrical engineering projects with large levels of organizational involvement and technical requirements.  Oversees the complete project life cycle, including approval, planning, and execution to ensure planned results are achieved on time, within budget and within scope. 

Assumes the lead role in the coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects, plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices company standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants.  Mentors and leads Project Engineer and their activities with regard to assigned projects. Leads the development of innovative products and provides guidance to other engineers. 

• Provide technical leadership by leading a cross functional team from inception of program through completion of planned tasks.
• Plan engineering programs and organize project team according to project requirements.
• Ensure that all assigned personnel are coordinating their activities with other project participants and that requirements of the Contract are being satisfied.
• Assist with the development, coaching and support of all assigned project personnel.
• Review product design for conformance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Monitor project progress to assure quality and adherence to requirements of contract documents and client specifications. 
• Coordinate activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
• Participate in Client/contractor meetings and resolving Client/engineering and management project issues.
• Interface with customers, vendors, and intra-company personnel.
• Drive innovation with new product development ideas and improvements for existing products.
• Lead and support team contributors in engineering, test and manufacturing.
• Work with internal and external subject matter experts, including electronics/embedded system and mechanical engineers/designers.
• Support system and subsystem troubleshooting and testing.
• Write technical proposals and supporting responses to RFI/RFP opportunities.

• Proficiency in design, analysis, developing, and building of analog and digital PID closed loop control circuits/systems (preferably for CubeSat Propulsion).
• Design, build and debug circuits using a microcontroller, analog and digital circuitry, PWM control and serial communications interface (RS-422, RS-485, SPI, I2C, UART).
• Experience with embedded software programming in modern object-oriented languages such as C, C++, Visual C# and Visual Basic including MISRA programming standards for high reliability applications. Aircraft avionics design a plus.
• Comprehensive understanding of application of EEE devices such as microcontrollers (MCU), voltage regulators, buck/boost convertors, current sensors, operational amplifiers (OP-AMPS), filters, ADC, potentiometers, MOSFETs, diodes, Schottky diodes, hall effect sensors, heaters, RTDs, thermistors, pressure and temperature transducers.
• Software and electronics co-design and troubleshooting.
• Understand and interpret technical system specifications and requirements.
• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and ICDs.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and software interfacing.
• Fabricate and test breadboard circuits and controllers.
• Proficient in schematic design, PCB layouts using design analysis tools such as ORCAD, Allegro, Altium and PSPICE.
• Design circuit diagrams and interface with vendors for fabrication.
• Create windows application test interfaces (GUI) using Visual Basic, C#/C++ and LabView.
• Hands on experience with assembling/prototyping, integration/testing/troubleshooting of analog and digital hardware, circuits, controllers, power supply and subsystems.
• Proficiency in operating standard electronics test equipment such as power supplies, digital multi-meters, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzers, function generators, digital recorders, and typical laboratory instruments.
• Design of motor and valve control circuits.
• Design and fabricate Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and harnesses for testing.
• Familiarity with radiation analysis (S-class) and EMI/EMC.
• Experience with electrical Design For Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
• Root cause and corrective action (RCCA) analysis and implementation on electronics products.
• Act as technical focal for electronics and software with customers and supply chain.

• Must possess knowledge of applicable electrical and embedded software engineering theories, methods and practices.
• Ability to apply sound electrical/software engineering principles to the solution of routine technical problems.
• Handle multiple priorities, detailed work to meet project deadlines and budgets.
• Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written, to support effective correspondence with internal as well as external customers; and the ability to read and interpret specifications, technical writing. 
• Experience in supplier and customer interaction; project management experience including budget and team responsibilities. 
• Capable of using computer assisted electrical engineering and design software such as OrCAD, Eagle (Autodesk), Altium Designer for schematic design, analysis and PWA layouts.
• Must be proficient in MS Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 

This position requires U.S. Citizenship and requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance at the appropriate level.

• Bachelor's degree (B.S) in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Engineering (CE) from a four-year college or university. An advanced degree highly desirable and preferred. 
• Minimum of Nine (9) years of related experience (preferably in Aerospace/Space/Cubesat Propulsion system manufacturing environment) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
