Responsible for performing various analysis (Structural/Fluid Flow/Rigid Body Dynamics/Magneto-Stratic, etc.) in support of fluid products line (Space/Defence). Engineering Analyst will support current/new products (validating designs) as well as existing production (failure investigations).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform basic stress, crack growth, fluid flow, pressure drop, and thermal analysis and writing justification using classical hand analysis methods and finite element analysis (FEA).
Assist in preparing design review presentations, interfacing with customer when requested; assist in technical support for internal/external customers, providing basic technical input.
Assist with compiling documentation of analysis results needed to prepare in clear concise reports.
Develop analysis methodologies and analysis tools to automate complex analysis.
As needed acts as a resource on modeling and design tool development that will drive the implementation and use of analysis early in the design cycle.
Provides input to establish standards for VACCO Modeling and Simulation.
May be required to perform dynamic simulation analyses using a computer program to math model the time varying behavior of a component or system.
Make quick design changes using AutoCAD Inventor as dictated by the analysis iterations.
Model simple models in Inventor for fast analysis turnaround.
Ability to perform expert Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Extensive experience with technical computer aided engineering (CAE) software such as Cosmos, Algor, EASY5, MathCAD, Excel, NASGRO, CFDesign and Autodesk Inventor. Analysis experience must include model, static and dynamic analysis. Ability to read and interpret Blueprint and schematic drawings.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Engineering mechanics; a minimum related 3 years of experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
