Pricing Analyst

SUMMARY:
Prepare cost proposals in response to customer solicitations using historical cost data, judgement and estimates from functional areas as required in developing final pricing objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare cost proposals for Sales and Marketing/Contracts Department in response to solicitations.  Analyze and communicate requirements to the team based on RFIs/RFPs (Request for Information/Request for Proposals) and supplier fact-finding processes.

Compile data and develop an objective cost analysis position to support the prime proposal. Develop “should-cost” scenarios preparing timely, accurate and compliant cost and business proposals.  Clearly and succinctly document assumptions.

Lead discussions with various personnel regarding technical issues or requirements that may affect costs.

Lead pricing reviews with management and customer representatives as required.

Utilize tools to create proposal files based on actual costs and projected improvements.

Support Sales and Marketing/Contract Department with pre and post award audits participating in cost proposal clarifications.  Participate and or lead proposal negotiations.

Make recommendations based on analysis of financial information to determine present and future financial performance.

Perform special assignments as delegated by management, supporting other pricing team members in preparing responses and review of work. 

Maintain complete proposal documentation and files.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
Expertise of Government Cost Accounting Principles and FARs.  Proficiency in the use of MS Office applications i.e. Word and Excel.  Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.  Ability to organize, prioritize, and research multiple projects under tight deadlines.  Ability to work independently with minimal management oversight.

Preferred ability to read and understand blueprints, as well as an understanding of the machining/manufacturing process.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience in Price/Cost, Proposal Analysis, Estimating and/or Financial Business Management preferred.  A combination of work experience in program cost analysis in an engineering development and manufacturing environment including cost accounting, pricing, and estimating a plus.  Experience pricing to Government requirements for services, both task orders and strategic contracts.  Critical thinking and analytical skills in addition to a thirst for knowledge is required.
