Responsible for providing continuous improvement of overall supply chain optimization and supplier quality assurance process and procedures including data collection and work process activities intended to control incoming parts and materials. This role will lead the improvement and standardization of supplier quality and supplier development processes, systems, and tools across the company while ensuring supplier adherence to the part engineering drawings, specifications, purchase order and quality flow down requirements of VACCO Industries. Collaborate cross functionally on selection criteria for approved supplier categories.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the supplier selection and qualification processes including
audits, ratings, root cause investigations, and vendor process improvements; purchasing activities, such as quoting, ordering, evaluating exceptions, purchase order data management and overall supplier management.
Lead supplier selection, approval, classification, and development through a combination of audits and product or process qualifications and process capability studies.
Monitor supplier classification/rating, reporting, corrective and preventative actions, training, and development.
Key point of contact for internal and external supply chain audit findings and observations. Develop and implement corrective actions as appropriate.
Achieve and manage production quality and lead-time commitments from suppliers targeting best cost solutions and fast delivery times.
Collaborate with engineering to develop creative cost saving solutions to achieve target cost reduction initiatives and improvement in rapid prototyping capabilities.
Own and manage supply chain internal KPI reporting and data collection. Implement lean six sigma methodologies through internal and supply chain network.
Support supply chain team with identifying opportunities for cost improvement, lead-time reduction and timely corrective action implementation.
Develop industry insights and benchmark standards to transition VACCO Industries’ supply chain organization into a world class supplier.
Participate in make/buy review committee and facilitate thorough capability comparison between internal and external sources.
Manage dock-to-stock supplier program and take the lead on implementing new supply chain supplier initiatives.
Manage in-process inspection requirements at external supplier facilities.
Direct knowledge or experience with Lean/Six Sigma training, quality management systems/tools, strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Strong negotiation experience and technical abilities. Proficiency in all MS office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Strong analytical skills and writing skills are required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline. Master’s or MBA degree preferred. A minimum of six (6) years of quality related experience including a minimum of five (5) years of hands-on management experience in a complex manufacturing environment. Hands on experience involving product verification, using standard MTE, completion of first article inspections, vendor quality audits and the maintenance of beneficial vendor relationships. Ability to read blueprint drawings and demonstrate a strong technical and business acumen.
