Maintenance Mechanic A

SUMMARY:
Performs a full range of maintenance mechanic assignments using independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.  Experienced in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates competence and knowledge in the utilization of standard test equipment.

Fabricates, assembles and tests parts as needed, such as various pumps, valves, compressors, and other mechanical system parts using metal fabricating tools, common hand tools, power tools, and welding torches.

Operates, troubleshoots and repairs equipment in a production mode.  Performs preventative maintenance (PM's) and overhaul of various production equipment.  Makes general mechanical and minor electrical repairs to production and facility equipment.

Possess strong working knowledge and abilities for minor repairs of electrical equipment. Replaces fuses, light blubs, circuit breakers, electric switches and other electrical equipment following electrical specifications.

Demonstrates good understanding and working ability for performing various plumbing repairs throughout facility grounds.

Repair pumps, motors, gear boxes, conveying systems and hydraulic systems.

Basic working knowledge of minor carpentry, painting and other miscellaneous minor building repairs or projects. 

Effectively interprets manuals and schematics, including blueprint drawings.

Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

Requisitions and/or purchases supplies, materials, tools, machine parts, and other necessary equipment. Prepares material and labor estimates to assure proper purchasing and distribution.  Meet with outside vendors to access needed repairs or outside processes.

May use company vehicle to pick up parts and/or materials for on-going maintenance projects.

Must be flexible to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Occasional overtime as necessary.

Must maintain a clean and efficient work area while maintaining safety standards and production efficiency levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read and interpret blueprint, drawings and manuals.  Knowledge and ability to maintain etching, chemical process equipment, repair pumps, motors, gear boxes, conveyers and hydraulic systems.  Experience performing simple rigging, working with various types of shop equipment, and operate mobile equipment.  Experience using basic hand and power tools to complete work assignments.  Able to communicate clearly both verbal and in writing.  Basic computer skills in the use of MS office software i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A High School Diploma or GED certification, with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PAY RANGE:   $28.00 - $35.00 Hr.
