SUMMARY

We are seeking a Conventional Machinist to join our team! 

Under minimal supervision performs complex set ups and operate conventional machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under minimal supervision performs the following duties:

Build difficult parts using exotic materials and be able to inspect all dimensions required on the B/P.

Repair parts that have minor defects.

Work with engineering to improve designs by making and reworking parts until they work perfectly.

Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.

Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.

Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.

Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

Must maintain a clean and efficient workstation while maintaining safety standards and production efficiency levels.

Keep machine tools clean and in good working order.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous experience in machine shop processes of conventional applications. Specific tool sharpening abilities is required. Ability to apply concepts of basic math and trigonometry. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Must be capable of checking all required B/P dimensions utilizing the appropriate measuring tools. Need to be able to setup and run complete parts using a B/P and work instructions Ability to perform first article inspections using precision measuring and gauging instruments on parts being machined or fabricated. General understanding of the entire machining/manufacturing process.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5 years related work experience setting up and machining detailed and difficult parts made from exotic materials using Conventional Engine lathes or Hardinge Chucking Lathes.
